The fragrant aroma of spices surrounded Rei as he worked quickly to prepare a variety of traditional and modern dishes, mainly Chinese. His hair was fully tied back, partly covered by the hair net he was, sadly, required to wear as part of health and safety measures.
Once that dish was finished he set to work on the next one calling one of the waiting staff to take the meal through for him. This was his life now. He paused midway through preparing a meal sighing as he remembered the old days when he would beyblade.
The days travelling the world.

Nori walked casually into the restaurant and inhaled deeply with a look of delight on his face. What could beat it? The smell of fresh food! The man walked forward a few steps and was greeted by a server. With a thud he dropped into a chair and took a large smile, waving his hand in refusal of a menu. "That's ok, I know what I want. I would like two orders of drained ramen, one bowl is fine, a large order of dumplings, a large order of whatever soup could be called 'the soup of the day' and three assorted platters of sushi please!"
The server stared a moment in disbelief at the order, which could have fed five or more people, but he wrote it down quickly. "Oh, and can you give this to whoever's in charge of the kitchen? I'd like to see if I could talk to someone about it if it's possible." He grinned sheepishly as the waiter took the paper from Nori and examined it to find it was an application. Then, with a smile he went off to do as was required of him. Nori leaned back and sighed, looking around the restaurant casually. Thinking a moment, he realized, maybe he should have tried to talk to someone before putting everyone to work. The problem is, he was starved!

Rei looked over as the server came up to him pausing in his work taking the order first before he started to read over the application. Quickly he spoke in Chinese to one of the other chefs before he wiped his hands carefully on a nearby towel following the server to go speak to the person.
He gave a slight polite bow as he stood by Nori's table. "You, wished to speak to me about an application?" He enquired quietly in his usual polite way. His feline golden brown eyes taking in the person in front of him curious, wondering what their purpose was, why they wished to speak to someone about the application.

With a small jolt, Nori turned to return a quick bow to the man who approached him, eyes a bit wide as he rose. This was it, the moment of truth. "Yes sir, I did! My name is Nori, Nori Tamakiro. I have come today to turn in my application and ask for an interview." Growing a bit nervous he motioned offhandedly for the chair across from him. Something about this person made Nori curious, he could swear he recognized him but he couldn't decide from where. Further, having someone standing over him made him feel like he was shrinking.
The jumble of thoughts between knowing of this man and staying calm made Nori noticeably stiff. He was here to apply for work, mostly, so he had to remain calm. It just so happened he was failing. "Let me start by saying I thank you for your consideration and I'm sorry the position part isn't filled out but I don't want to be picky. Just.. anything but a waiter." He smiled anxiously, the thoughts of cook, dishwasher, food prep and errand boy all hitting him at once. At a glance he looked nervous but to the trained eye he was a wreck with anxiety.

Rei watched his actions a bit taking in his demeanour reading over the application again almost absently taking the seat opposite flicking the long ponytail from his back as he did so. He read through quickly "I assume you've ordered food here," he smiled a bit then. "I'll let you eat first then take you through for interview if that's fine by you?" he enquired his voice soft.
"By the way, I don't bite," he added on, he'd noted the others anxiety. He'd rather interview him a bit calmer then risk gaining a totally wrong impression. "Please you must excuse me, I have an important order to tend to," slowly he stood giving the polite bow again before turning to leave, reminding himself to place the application on the notice board in the kitchen.

Nori gave a stiff yet hearty nod. "Yes sir, that is fine with me. You are working already so I will work with your schedule." His words were quiet to a polite degree but the way he said it could have warranted a salute - as if he were in the military. A sincere smile of relief then came. The comment of not biting actually a somewhat calming thought for him. The man then stood and began to go to attend to his order. Nori gave him a nod and a small wave. "OK, I wish you success sir." Then, with the man gone Nori sunk in his chair with a long sigh.
------------
A bit later the food came out and Nori, with eyes the size of a mack truck, was amazed with the presentation and quality. He grinned and thanked his waiter, who had brought some green tea with jasmine as requested in the in between time. Quietly he sipped and then began his creation. The noodles were piled into the soup, the soup poured into the noodles to even it's level out. Dumplings rained into the creation and the sushi was lined up in front of him. The man began to eat and within mere minutes he had it down to two platters of sushi stacked on one to make it easier on his waiter.
Gingerly, Nori continued to eat and sip his tea, his pace now slowed for the purpose of slowing his anxious mind. The food was so good, he was in heaven. With only a few pieces left, Nori put them on a napkin and waved over his waiter. "Can you please tell the man from earlier that I am ready to continue our business when he is?" The waiter gave a nod and went off with the last of the dishes. Nori finished his little snack and took to taking deep sips of the tea, inhaling long breaths through his nose as the tantalizing liquid met his tongue. The combination of aroma and taste was excellent for soothing the nerves. Now all he had to do was go for the gold.

Rei worked rapidly to finish the current order he was working on nodding to the waiter who had brought him the message. This time it was he who brought the plates out to the table he was serving. It was after all one of the more important business men giving a polite bow as he swiftly served the dishes, engaging in light conversation before excusing himself.
Slowly he walked over to Nori's table "If you would like to follow me please," he stated calmly quietly, ready to take him to a back room away from the main hustle of the restaurant, so as to be able to discuss better his application with him. He waited for him to move to stand before he turned to slowly walk off the long white wrapped ponytail swaying lightly behind him as he headed back in the direction of the kitchen.
